Buying Guide – How to Choose the Best Hard Carrying Case for ROG Ally X

Choosing the right hard carrying case requires evaluating several key factors to ensure your console is protected and accessible.

Compatibility

Always verify that the case supports your specific ROG Ally X model. Some cases are designed for the 2023, 2024, or 2025 versions. Using an incompatible case can lead to a poor fit or damage to the console ports.

Check product descriptions carefully for model numbers and release years. Confirm that the interior dimensions match your device before purchasing.

Material Durability

The shell material determines how well the case resists impacts. EVA and polypropylene plastic are common durable materials for hard cases. Look for cases with thickened shells for maximum protection.

Choose a material that aligns with your travel habits. Harder shells protect against drops, while softer shells might be more lightweight but less protective.

Storage Capacity

Consider what accessories you need to store alongside your console. Cases vary from minimal designs that hold just the console to large cases with space for chargers and docks.

If you travel frequently with multiple peripherals, look for cases with multiple compartments or mesh pockets. Ensure the case fits your needs without being too bulky.

Interior Lining

The interior lining prevents scratches and protects the screen. Look for soft materials like fleece, velvet, or microfiber. These materials cushion the console during travel.

Some cases also feature straps or flaps to secure the device inside. This prevents the console from moving and hitting the sides of the case.

Portability Features

A good case should be easy to carry. Look for handles, straps, or carabiner rings that make transporting the case simple. The weight of the case itself also matters for daily carry.

Ensure the case has smooth zippers or closures. This makes accessing your device quick and convenient when you are out and about.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing can be essential for outdoor use. Some hard cases feature airtight seals or waterproof materials to protect against rain and spills.

If you often travel in unpredictable weather, a waterproof case provides peace of mind. Check if the case includes seals or special closures to keep moisture out.

Extra Features

Some cases include unique features like built-in stands or dedicated card slots. A stand can be useful for charging or media consumption without an external dock.

Dedicated slots for game cards or SD cards keep your library organized. Evaluate these extras based on how they fit your specific workflow and needs.

Price and Value

Hard carrying cases range from affordable to premium price points. Determine your budget and compare it with the features offered. A higher price does not always mean better protection.

Look for a case that balances cost with the features you need. Sometimes a mid-range case offers the best value for regular use.

How to Use and Care for Your Hard Carrying Case

Always clean your console before placing it inside the case to prevent dust from scratching the surface. Wipe down the device and accessories with a soft cloth to ensure everything is free of debris before storage.

Ensure all zippers are fully closed when carrying the case. This prevents accidental opening and protects your device from falling out. Check the zipper regularly for any snags or debris that might hinder smooth operation.

Store the case in a cool, dry place to prevent mold or odors. If you plan to use the case for a long time, occasionally open it to air it out and check the condition of the lining and straps.

Frequently Asked Questions
